A creative workshop for unfinished ideas

Crooked Stack木匠盖歪楼

Half-baked ideas welcome.

Bring a spark. Add a brick. Build it crooked.

What it is

A collaborative stack for ideas before they know what they are.

Crooked Stack gives unfinished ideas a public workbench. A Spark can be rough, weird, or missing a business model. The point is to make it visible early enough that other people can add useful Bricks, challenge the shape, or Fork it into a new direction.

Crooked Stack principle

Open, but not ownerless

Crooked Stack is not an idea vault.

We cannot promise that a public Spark will never inspire someone else or be independently developed outside the platform.

What we can provide is a clear source record: who started the Spark, when it was submitted, what was originally written, who added Bricks, who created Forks, and when a Spark moved toward a Build.

Open collaboration should not erase origin.

Every Spark has a source. Every Brick has a name. Every Fork keeps attribution. Every Build should respect the trail.

If your idea is a trade secret, confidential business plan, or unprotected patentable invention, don't post it publicly here.

But if your idea is a half-formed Spark that may otherwise stay buried in your notes, this is a place where it can be seen, helped, recorded, and maybe built.

Focused shelves

What kind of Sparks live here?

Crooked Stack starts with half-formed ideas around creative life, content, community, small tools, wellbeing, and wild ideas.

Wild Ideas

Not every idea belongs here. Crooked Stack is best for Sparks that are open to discussion, Bricks, Forks, and small Builds. Please do not submit trade secrets, confidential business ideas, or unprotected patentable inventions.

How it works

How ideas move through the workshop

01Spark灵感unfinished idea
02Brick添砖small contribution
03Stack堆叠main version
04Fork分岔new direction
05Build开工real experiment
06House成楼visible outcome

Each stage has a clear job, so readers can scan the path without decoding a long label.

Spark灵感

Post an unfinished thought, a half-shaped hunch, or a question with a pulse.

Brick添砖

Others add names, angles, critiques, references, mockups, and missing pieces.

Stack堆叠

Useful Bricks gather into the evolving main line of the idea.

Fork分岔

Promising directions can split off with attribution and visible contribution history.

Build开工

A real-world test turns the crooked stack into something people can touch.

House成楼

The idea has a visible result: an event, site, episode, demo, or small product.

Why it exists

Good ideas often arrive crooked.

Most communities celebrate finished projects. Crooked Stack makes room for the earlier stage: the messy note, the unlikely connection, the thing that needs one more person to become real.

The promise

Clear attribution, generous contribution, no automatic ownership surprises.

Contributors can add momentum without blurring who started what. Commercial collaborations stay separate and intentional.

A spring Chinese reading picnic in Boston

Original creator: Crooked Stack

I want to make a spring Chinese reading club in Boston. Not a knowledge check-in, not a performance of being literary, but a picnic-like gathering where drifting people can feel life again. Everyone brings one book and trades a small piece of their life.

Lemonade Everywhere

Original creator: Crooked Stack

I want to build a community that turns life's bad stuff into lemonade. Each person drops one recent trouble, and others help transform it into an opportunity, artwork, action, joke, or new way of living.

Playing House for Adults

Original creator: Crooked Stack

I want to create an offline activity where adults can seriously play pretend. People temporarily enter a setting such as a small town, newspaper office, spaceship, counseling room, or magic school, and use roleplay to re-experience creativity.

Museum of Ordinary Failures

Original creator: Crooked Stack

I want to make a museum of ordinary people's failures. Not success porn, only the things that did not work out, were not chosen, were never said, or could not continue.

Half-Baked Podcast

Original creator: Crooked Stack

I want to make a podcast where each episode only explores one question that is not yet clear. It is not about delivering answers. It shows how an idea slowly grows a shape out of confusion.
